Applying
At Cambridge the process of applying starts a little earlier to allow time for interviews to be organised. However, the process is otherwise much the same as that for other universities and is summarised below.
Consider a course – you're going to be studying the subject to a very high level for several years so make sure you choose a course you're passionate about and will really enjoy!
Think about a College (or an open application) – where would you like to live when you're here?
Come along to an open day to see for yourself – there are University, College and department open days throughout the year.
Submit your UCAS application online by 15 October¹ – once submitted, you can follow its progress online through 'UCAS Track'. Our institution code is CAM C05.
You'll also need to submit an additional application if you're:
attending a school/college outside the EU
applying for the Graduate Course in Medicine
applying for an Organ Scholarship
eligible to submit an Extenuating Circumstances Form
Submit your Supplementary Application Questionnaire (SAQ) – a few extra questions that cover information not included in your UCAS application but which we find useful.
Attend an interview in December – we interview everyone with a realistic chance of being offered a place. That's over 80 per cent of applicants each year.
We'll then advise you of our decision and of any offer.
If you're offered a place, you'll be informed by the College and through UCAS – you must reply, observing UCAS requirements and deadlines.
¹ Other application deadlines apply for those wishing to be interviewed in particular overseas countries, and some mature applicants.
