University of Cambridge

Area Links Scheme

The University's Area Links Scheme was established in 2000 to enable the Cambridge Colleges to build effective, coherent relationships with schools and colleges across the UK.

The Area Links Scheme:

  • gives schools and colleges a more personal and direct way of staying in touch with the University by providing specific/defined contact points through which you can communicate with us, and we can communicate with you
  • enables the Cambridge Colleges to get to know specific regions and the local educational environments better

Each College runs its own programme of activities and events for the schools/colleges in their link regions. Activities may be based in Cambridge or take place in your region, and there may be variation in the year groups that Colleges work with through the Scheme.*

Local circumstances and needs differ, and a range of approaches have been developed to help teachers and lecturers encourage and support their students within the context of a Cambridge application. What all Colleges share is a willingness to provide you and your students with advice and guidance, and to listen to your perspectives on what we can do to help make Cambridge as accessible as possible to all students with the ability and potential to study here.

Select your region on the map below and then the appropriate area to see which Cambridge College you are linked with and how you can get in touch with them.

* Please note that the Area Links Scheme does not preclude you from contacting or being contacted by a College other than your link College(s). Please also note that there is no expectation or obligation for students to apply to the relevant link College and participation in Area Links Scheme initiatives does not influence whether Colleges invite applicants for interview or offer them places.
